Karen is responsible for leading the assessment design, development and delivery functions at ETS. During this Fireside Chat, Karen will discuss journey into the measurement field, and her various professional experiences as a research scientist, a psychometrician, and an assessment designer. Join us to hear from Karen about her work at ETS leading a several-hundred person team of measurement professionals focused on re-envisioning the design and implementation of assessments, psychometrics, and scoring and reporting.

This interactive workshop experience will engage participants in understanding their own assets that can be leveraged in writing and publishing, as well as touch on issues related to dealing with push back, pursing grants, finding collaborators, and much more.

MOMS WHO MEASURE MENTORING SESSION: NAVIGATING ACADEMIC AND INDUSTRY CAREERS

Currently, women CEO’s run just 10.4% of Fortune 500 companies, and only 27% of academic mothers get tenure. It can- and must- get so much better than this. In this mentoring session, a panel of highly successful scholars of education and applied measurement will share their insights on navigating academia and industry as women – and specifically, mothers- who measure. The panel will feature Dr. Fumiko Hoeft, Campus Dean and Chief Administrative Officer, UCONN Waterbury, Dr. Sara Rimm-Kaufman- Commonwealth Professor of Education, UVA, Dr. Bridget Hamre, Founder and CEO of Teachstone, and Dr. Aaliyah Samuel – President and CEO of CASEL. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Christina Cipriano, Associate Professor and Director of the Education Collaboratory at Yale University.

NCME 2024

WOMEN IN MEASUREMENT RESEARCHERs AT THE NCME CONFERENCE

Saturday, April 13th – 1:15-2:45 pm ET

Our ResearcHERs will be sharing their research at the 2024 NCME Conference. This panel discussion session, moderated by Dr. Fiona Hinds, aims to explore the narratives and experiences of Latin American and Muslim women in the field of educational measurement, and a liberation model for re-imagining an equitable system for the measurement industry that is inclusive of racial and gender equity, local culture, and language. The presenters: Dr. Shelia Lallmamode, Dr. Xaviera Gonzalez-Wegener, Dr. Leslie Rosales and Maria Hamdani, MSc will illustrate the findings of qualitative research studies and provide insight into the intersectionality of identities and experiences of Latin American and Muslim women to uncover challenges and barriers. The researchers will provide insights to explore transformative viewpoints of creating a liberation model that addresses frameworks and strategies for overcoming racial, gender, cultural and language inequities in educational measurement.
